It is an ideal place for relaxation and recreation seekers. Peace, quiet and ever-changing landscapes combined with the murmur of crystal clear streams and waterfalls falling in the vicinity of granite rocks are the elements which have an extremely soothing effect on those willing to experience some more rest.
Apart from their stunning beauty, the Sudetes also attract with mystery. Countless legends about the Mountain Spirit – Liczyrzepa (The wildman of the woods), the Walloons and their ubiquitous signs, as well as passages about the treasures that are hidden in the local streams and forests are another reason why you should visit Szklarska Poręba. It is also, because of its location, ideal as a base to visit nearby Jakuszyce, Karpacz, Jelenia Góra, Prague or even Vienna. Speaking of Szklarska Poreba, one cannot forget downhill skiing. In the town itself there are 15 km of pistes of various difficulties and 14 lifts. Most of them have been located on the towering peak of Szrenica. Near the town border, in the Czech town of Harrachov, which is regarded as the Czech capital of winter sports, there are 7 km of pistes with all levels of difficulty. If we add to all of the aforementioned attractions countless possibilities for hiking along the scenic routes of the Giant and Izera Mountains, mountain climbing or even horse riding across the vast woodlands, we will not exhaust all options.
